The best outcomes involve addressing all three phases of care - before a diagnosis with personalized risk assessment and screening, during a diagnosis with a blend of cutting edge technology and surgical skill, and after a diagnosis with a focus on survivorship and wellness. Two goals when it comes to treating breast cancer: First identify and provide every proven method of treatment available worldwide and second make it personal! Second, one patient at a time - all breast cancers are NOT the same and every patient’s plan should be catered to their needs.

David Weintritt, MD, FACS, is a board certified breast surgeon and founder of the National Breast Center and Foundation. He focuses on breast cancer and is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive care available. He firmly believes that every patient is unique and deserves a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.
Dr. Weintritt completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Florida and surgery residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. He then served in the United States Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base. During his tenure as an Air Force surgeon, he worked with surgical oncologists at Walter Reed Army and Bethesda Naval Hospitals in offering sentinel node biopsy, a procedure that significantly reduces breast cancer surgery risk, and is now standard in breast cancer surgery. From there, he entered into private practice in Annapolis, MD, and as part of the hospital’s new comprehensive breast program, he gained experience in breast ultrasound and minimally invasive approaches for managing breast disease. In 2003, Dr. Weintritt opened his own practice in Alexandria, VA, bringing new programs and breast surgery techniques to Northern Virginia. Dr. Weintritt also founded the National Breast Center Foundation that funds breast cancer screening and treatment for underinsured women in the DC region. Dr. Weintritt is a perennial Washingtonian Top Doctor chosen by his peers and continues to focus on clinical research and development of new breast cancer procedures.
Dr. Weintritt enjoys the outdoors, sports, travel, cooking, music, faith, and experiencing life with his family and trusted friends.
