A mouthwash containing ethyl alcohol, with topical antibacterial activity. Upon rinsing the oral cavity with the ethyl alcohol mouthwash, ethyl alcohol denatures bacterial proteins, and dissolves and disrupts the bacterial lipid membrane, thereby killing the bacteria.
